Candied-Ginger GranolaPrint Recipe
- 3 cups old fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/4 cup candied ginger
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1/4 tsp coarse sea salt
- 1 TBSP vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup ginger simple syrup
- 1/4 cup sunflower oil
- 1/4 cup hot water
Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large, rimmed cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Combine your wet ingredients in a bowl, add the hot water last as it will help loosen the thick syrup. use a spoon or a whisk to mix together (I prefer a whisk, moves things along much quicker). Set aside.
Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl (You need the space for stirring the ingredients).
Doesn't matter what order you combine them. It is only important that everything is mixed together thoroughly.
Combine the wet Ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix together thoroughly to ensure every oat, nut and ginger root is coated.
Spread the mix on to parchment paper and bake for 2 hours or the granola is dry to touch.
I used Alton Brown's recipe to make my candied ginger. (Check it out ) I saved the rendered liquid which turned out to be a flavorful ginger simple syrup.
